Components & Engineering
We have 40+ years of providing customers with the strongest structures on the market. Although many hoops and arches on the market appear to look the same, the engineering behind them is very different. This really matters when it’s protecting what’s inside your structure. Below are a few engineering advantages that set us apart from the competition.
COMPRESSION
When erecting our arches, we formulate maximum compression into the hoops. This provides upward and outward pressure which drastically increases the overall strength of the arch.
TENSILE STRENGTH
Tensile strength is a measurement of the force required to pull the steel to the point where it fails. This varies from one steel manufacturer to another. Therefore all 14-gauge steel tubing is not the same. With over 45 years of fabrication experience, we select only the top steel manufacturers that produce the highest tensile strength on the market.
HEAVY DUTY CONNECTIONS
You can tell a lot about the quality of a structure by looking closely at the details and small components. The thickness and strength of U brackets, brace bands, and cross connectors are vital. Many competitors use cheap, thin fittings in order to cut costs which can jeopardize the strength of the entire structure.
FULL MACHINE ROLLED CONSISTENCY
We use full 180-degree rolling machines to ensure consistent and accurate arch construction. Our method allows for even pressure along the entire length of steel creating stronger arches. Other methods such as hand rolling and pinch wheel rolling do not distribute pressure as even which can affect the strength of the arch. This results in the structure being vulnerable to collapse in these tough Midwest conditions.
GROUND ANCHOR POINT VS TOP OF SIDEWALL CONNECTION
Many competitors drive in ground stakes that stick 6' out of the ground. This creates a high point of connection to the arch making it vulnerable to potential failure. Our ground stakes are driven deep and the arches begin 4 inches from the ground. They then rise for the sidewall and begin to bend as one long piece rather than connecting at a high point off the ground. This eliminates sidewall and ground stake bowing which also helps transfer ultimate strength to the arches and structure. It also maximizes the use of available space and allows for efficient air circulation and light distribution.
